Nambour RSL Club is excited to be a part of the Street Art Nambour project for 2021. The Street Art Nambour Festival commenced in 2018 and was part of a five-year plan to bring street art to Nambour. Creations are positioned on walls and other structures throughout Nambour, providing a trail of culture, history and stories to locals and vistors alike.
We would love the community of Nambour and our members to decide between three modern and diverse options for the final design of our community contribution to street art. We ask you to vote with your design of choice below. Please remember to be respectful and that this is street art and is intended to be a more fluid and modern take on the design subject.
The artist creating the masterpiece at Nambour RSL Club is Sarah Sculley: a Sunshine Coast-based urban artist who creates banksy-style stencil works with a kick of colour and energy. With over twenty years in the creative industries, Sarah uses her graphic design background to create balanced, emotive murals. She studied a Bachelor of Design Studies majoring in Graphic Design and Visual Culture at the Queensland College of Art and received a scholarship from Griffith University to study abroad at the Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland. Sarah has lived and exhibited her work in the UK, China, North America and Australia. She has now settled in Nambour – her home. Sarah has received a number of grants from Arts Qld and RADF to manage projects such as ‘Women on Wall’ and solo and group shows. She works as a sessional academic at QUT and runs street art workshops in schools and community groups throughout SEQ – encouraging emerging artists to reach their full potential. Sarah has painted murals in many countries across the globe, but as a member of Nambour RSL Club, she feels this is one of her more meaningful murals.
The street art with the most votes will be featured on Mathew Street, Nambour and will be a welcome addition to the Club building. Voting opens 10am Wednesday 1 September and closes 5pm Friday 3 September 2021. We will notify the public of the piece that will be created on Monday 6 September by social media post and website announcement.
