Rewarding work at Nambour RSL Club

One of the largest employers in the region, an award winning venue and an employer of choice, RSL Services & Citizens Club Nambour Inc. has shone the spotlight on some of its high performing staff with their ‘Staff Rewards’ announcements. Two staff who took out top honours, Michaela and Jess, will be attending a weekend workshop with internationally renowned motivation expert Anthony Robbins as a reward for their achievements.

Michaela and Jess join Nick, Hayley, Gabrielle, Trudy and Sandra in being recognised through the Club’s ‘Staff Rewards Program’, designed to advocate excellence in customer service. Whilst all 7 staff work in different departments they have one thing in common, they strive to achieve excellence in their roles.
Suzanne Long, General Manager explains, ’Not many businesses, particularly in the service industry, can afford to just be ok at what they do. They have to wow and create a memorable experience for their customers.’

She continues, ’The Club focuses on delivering an exceptional experience to our members and guests. Our staff make this happen, through attention to detail, love of what they do and their high levels of customer service.’

With so many ways that customers can share and rate businesses now it’s even more important to get it right.

‘The rewards program is designed to reward and share examples of great service and dedication.’

As part of recognising their efforts the selected staff will attend the Clubs Queensland Industry Awards held at the end of March where the Club has been nominated for 5 awards and shortlisted for best redevelopment with the Club’s Head Chef Matthew, shortlisted for Silver Chef of the Year.

Offering unique training opportunities and providing growth and development programs for staff is something the Club’s Board and Management feel strongly about.

Jess has been given the opportunity to participate in development programs in the past.

‘My first trip overseas was through the Club. I got to attend a development workshop in the US. I didn’t even have a passport!’

Part of the Club team for several years, Jess loves the challenge, ‘The trip to the US was life changing. I don’t think people realise the career potential in Clubs.’

Michaela joined the Club whilst completing her degree with Sunshine Coast University and soon discovered that a career path was possible. Now part of the marketing team she is able to gain experience in her chosen field.

She comments on the opportunity, ’I was concerned about my options locally on the Sunshine Coast, and thought I’d have to re-locate but have discovered that there are many opportunities within the Club.’

‘I didn’t know who Anthony Robbins was when I was first told about the reward,’ she continues, ‘I googled him and soon realised I was in for something pretty special.’

Michaela and Jess will attend the workshop in Sydney in the later part of the year.
