NYU takes out the Nambour RSL Shield

Nambour Yandina United have defeated Woombye 3 – 2 in the premier men’s league when they faced off over the weekend for the sponsors shield.


The RSL Services & Citizens Club Nambour Inc has partnered with NYU for many years, supporting the team as major sponsor. This is the first time in six years NYU have won the Nambour RSL Shield.


Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first half and went in to the break 0-0. Woombye broke away in the second half going up 2-0 in the early stages only to see NYU hit back with vengeance.


NYU then scored 3 unanswered goals to take out the win.


NYU is just one of more than 20 local sporting groups the Nambour RSL Club has partnered with over recent years and through the Club’s ‘growing Nambour’s future’ philosophy and the practical application of grants, sponsorships and donations they proudly have assisted 1,638 kids enjoy local  sport.


Nambour RSL Club’s General Manager Suzanne Long said, ‘It’s so important that our kids have junior sporting opportunities not only to have fun and be included, but to pave the way for a healthy lifestyle.’


‘The Club is committed to these programs and ensuring their future. Without our assistance some of these teams would not be able to continue.’


Nambour RSL Club’s Assistant General Manager Laurie Williams attended the match and said, ‘The match was played very hard and in great spirit by both sides’.


‘This was the best premier division match I have ever seen at NYU’.


Player awards went to NYU’s Jonathan Harth and Woombye’s Josh Dixson for the gallant effort they put forwarded for their respective teams.
