This month the RSL Services & Citizens Club Nambour Inc received approval for a development application for a multi storey car park opposite the Club’s current site on Matthew Street.

The Club has gone from strength to strength having recent
Carparkly unveiled its latest refurbishment delivering a sophisticated and contemporary venue, a market leader for Nambour and surrounding hinterland community. The refurbishment includes a new restaurant and lounge, function facility, extended dining area, refreshed kids room, brand new teched up Youth zone and a gaming lounge extension.

The application for the car park was inspired initially by the Club’s comprehensive strategic planning sessions and forms the next step in the Club’s growth and ability to deliver what the local community need.

Club General Manager Suzanne Long explains, ‘The Club’s board is progressive and visionary and recognised the growing need at the Club meant that car parking can become limited at times. We want to offer our members a safe and convenient additional undercover option.’

‘The car park will offer 318 additional spaces. It means that we can also expand our  state of the art function facilities and run larger scale events at the Club and not compromise our existing services to members and guests.’

‘With the loss of the Nambour Civic Centre our venue can offer a space for professional, school and special occasion events. Providing car parks for these patrons is critical.’

The design of the car park is in keeping with Councils vision for aesthetically appealing building designs for the Sunshine Coast.  Suzanne states that ‘Council should be praised for its insistence on superior structural designs that will compliment the beautiful Sunshine Coast environment, our car park exceeds this benchmark’.

The Car park also features consideration to ease of access, weather protection, disabled parking, pedestrian and bicycle facilities and maximum manoeuvrability.

Suzanne continues, ‘Whilst the realisation of the car park is still some time away we are very proud to have plans in place that will deliver a much needed asset to our members and guests. As a Club we have always grown with our community and its needs and this is just another step in that process.’

The Nambour RSL Club has been servicing the community since the 50’s and recently celebrated its 60th birthday. It has seen many an evolution, constantly changing with the growing demands of the community it serves.

Suzanne has worked with the Club through all of the major renovations and lead the Club through its last two and is looking forward to heading up the car park development.

‘As anyone in business knows, it is no small task to remain successful over generations. We have had to apply long term thinking in all that we do.’

‘It’s a great feeling knowing that our vision and strategic planning, years in the making, has finally taken life in delivering this quality venue for our community. Critical of course, is our members and the community’s feedback and I’m very pleased to say that we’ve received some fantastic comments to date on our latest renovation. ’

‘We provide a critical service to the community and have a responsibility to our members and guests to ensure we solidify the Club’s success long into the future. As a Club we inject millions of dollars into community organisations and events and play a pivotal role in the town’s future. It’s something the board and management team are very passionate about.’
