Suzanne has been a member of the team since 1992. During this time Suzanne has progressed through administration and management roles to now lead the Club as CEO and Company Secretary. Under her leadership, the Club in 2018 progressed from an Incorporated Association to a Company Limited by Guarantee and has significant plans for the development of a new Community Club at Sippy Downs. The Nambour RSL Club has also undergone several major redevelopments and growth since Suzanne was appointed the role of General Manager in 2009.
Suzanne holds a Certificate IV in Business, Certificate IV in Hospitality, Diploma of Hospitality Management, Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management and has completed several units in a Bachelor of Commerce and is a successful Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. Suzanne is also a qualified Justice of the Peace and holds a CCM – Certified Club Manager Award. Suzanne graduated from the 2008 Fosters Leadership Academy intake and upon her graduation, received the prestigious Future Industry Leader of Outstanding Potential Award.
Suzanne is passionate about her career, the careers of the team she leads and loves to see people reach their full potential. Suzanne dislikes seeing people do jobs they don’t enjoy and has the philosophy that ‘if you are passionate about what you do then you will always succeed’.
Suzanne was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast and has two children, Mitchell and Madison.
Laurie joined the Nambour RSL Club team in 1994. During this time Laurie has progressed through the ranks holding positions as bar manager, human resources manager, operations manager to his now current role as Assistant General Manager.
Laurie has a strong passion for the hospitality industry and the Nambour RSL Club. He has previously held the position of President-Club Managers Association (Sunshine Coast Zone) and is a current member and former Chairperson of the Nambour and Hinterland Liquor Accord (CALM). He is also an active member of the community and has been involved in various community groups including NYU Football and North Arm State School.
Laurie’s qualifications include- Certificate IV OHS, FSA Certificate, Diploma of Management, Diploma of Hospitality (Management) and the CCM – Certified Club Manager Award.
Laurie is married to Tracy and has three sons, Joshua, Clayton and Dominic.
Tracey joined the team as Financial Controller in early 2017. Tracey was already a 10 year veteran in the role of Financial Controller of a major Sunshine Coast Club prior to joining Nambour RSL Club and brings a wealth of financial expertise to the team with over 30 year experience in the Clubs industry.
As an accounting professional, Tracey has worked in Accounting Practices, the Import/Export Industry and in various Hotels and Clubs, with roles including Contract Accountant and Financial Controller. At the Nambour RSL Club Tracey oversees all finance and IT functions within the business.
Tracey holds a Bachelor of Business Accounting from the University of the Sunshine Coast and is accredited as a CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) from Deakin University. Tracey attended the World Conference of Accountants in 2018 as part of her passion for ongoing professional development. In 2008 Tracey was a Finalist in the Sunshine Coast Business Woman of the Year Professional.
Tracey is married to Jim with 2 children and one grandson, she enjoys travelling with her favourite destination being Scotland.
Michaela joined the Nambour RSL Club in 2014 whilst also completing her qualifications. She holds a Bachelor of Communication (Marketing & Public Relations) and has worked her way to our Marketing & Communications Manager.
Michaela started her career in the Club industry at the Kingaroy RSL and has since worked in varied environments including the health, law, commerce and hospitality industries, all contributing to her broad and inter-changeable knowledge within the Club.
Michaela manages our marketing strategy from advertising, entertainment, social media, corporate sponsorships and all that lies between. She thrives on the diversity within her role, the vast connections it’s presented to her and the performance driven team that she engages with each day.
Michaela and her fiance Todd reside in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and you can often find them walking the many hinterland trails.
Executive Chef | Matthew Smyth
This is Matthew’s second time with Nambour RSL Club as Senior Executive Chef, re-joining the team in 2016.
Matt’s experience spans across continents with lead roles in St Regis Hotel Beijing China, Atlantis Sheraton Zurich Switzerland, Le Meridien Resort Spa and Casino Vanuatu, as well as appointments across many luxury hotels and Clubs in Australia including the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Four Points by Sheraton Port Macquarie, Compass Group, Novotel Lake Crackenback Resort and more locally Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa.
Matt has achieved much in his career and has been recognised many times through industry awards, though his humble and introverted nature may make you think otherwise. Most recently he was recognised as the Club Chef of the Year in the 2018 Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence, an award that came from many months of hard work and support from his team.
Matt brings class and creativity to Nambour RSL Club’s cuisine offering and is leading the food team to deliver consistently exciting menu’s that set a benchmark for Clubs on the Sunshine Coast. His non-aggressive and considered approach makes him a pleasure to work with and loved by his staff, colleagues and customers alike and probably went a long way in securing him Employee of the Year at Lake Crackenback.
Event Sales Manager | Elissa Rosenberg
Elissa joined the Nambour RSL Club team in January 2018 and delivers exceptional service in our state of the art function facility. She thrives on the diversity that her role offers with everything from weddings, corporate dinners and seminars to sports group presentations and bus groups and relishes the opportunity to show off our venue.
Elissa also comes from the hotel industry, specialising in conferences and events and including boutique, national and international venues in Sydney, Cairns and the Sunshine Coast for over 20 years. Her qualifications include a Certificate IV Hospitality, Certificate III Tourism (Retail Travel Sales) and eCornell Hospitality Management Certificate. Elissa is an active member of our community, volunteering in both her children’s P&C Association and the Nambour Junior Crushers Rugby League Club.
Elissa has two children, Isabel and Cohen and proudly volunteers for a number of Nambour organisations.
