Nambour Crushers host all star cast in March

Rugby league greats Trevor Gillmeister and Jharal Yow Yeh are headlining a charity sports luncheon at Nambour RSL Club on March 24.

The RSL Services & Citizens Club Nambour Inc is proudly partnering with the Nambour Crushers Rugby League Club to host the event, which will support the Nambour Crushers. Sunshine Coast Falcons head coach Craig Ingebrigtsen, will also attend, with the guests being interviewed by veteran sports journalist Tony Durkin. Funds raised will support the Crushers, and bookings can be made through Nambour RSL Club on 5441 2366.

As a long-term sponsor of the team, Nambour RSL Club will host the lunch and is encouraging its members and guests to attend to support the local sporting team.

General Manager, Suzanne Long, is supportive of the Club’s efforts and stressed the club had a long history with many local sporting organisations.

“It has been great to watch the success of the Crushers over the years and play a significant part in their growth,” she said.

“Community organisations are put under a lot of pressure to raise funds and events like this luncheon only succeed with the support of the community.”

Crushers’ president, Brad Beetson, has encouraged all lovers of the game to attend to support the Crushers.

‘It will be a terrific day out and a once in a lifetime opportunity to network with greats like Trevor and Jharal,” he said.

“We will have some great items to auction and raffle including a rare State of Origin golf bag signed by Artie Beetson, Wally Lewis, Tom Raudonikis and Allan Langer. The RSL Club is putting on a fantastic two course meal with beverage package to make an afternoon of it.’

‘We’d like to see this become an annual event.’

The afternoon promises to be entertaining with Tony Durkin expertly hosting and sure to encourage some good sporting yarns from Trevor, Jharal and Craig.

The Nambour Rugby League Club was formed in 1985 with the amalgamation of two Nambour based league sides, the Souths Magpies and the All Whites. Now 32 years later the Club has gone from strength to strength with over 250 current players, dedicated junior and senior committees and coaching staff.

All are welcome to attend, simply book with Nambour RSL Club.
