The Supper Club with Vince Jones and Band

The Nambour Winter Jazz Fest is destined to be one of the best musical experiences on the Sunshine Coast’s jazz calendar presents an exciting day of jazz. On Saturday 21 July we will feature the headline act, The Supper Club with Vince Jones and Band.

Vince Jones has set the benchmark for Australian Jazz singers since his emergence in the jazz clubs of Melbourne in the late 70s and early 80s. His 20 album, international career has never hesitated in its musical evolution – a career played in the moment. He is that rare genre-defying artist who creates music without borders. From Iris DeMent’s folk “Our Town” to his original piano heavy, new age “Wonderworld”, he comments, sometimes uncomfortably, about the world we live in, from an unashamedly idealistic perspective.

His intuitive readings of the Great American Songbook are sensitively true to composer and artist. He is a wonderful trumpet player as his style has developed a distinctive reserve and subtlety. He plays a little less and draws a good deal more from it than he did in early days. A brief solo from Vince is worth a hundred notes played with less discretion. Particular about the musical company he keeps, he continues to enjoy playing with the best jazz musicians the country has to offer. Matt McMahon (MD/piano), Karl Dunnicliff (bass) and James Hauptman(drums) joining him for this performance are no exception.

Neil Diamond Super Hits Show

Remember songs like Sweet Caroline, Cherry Cherry, Cracklin Rosie, Kentucky Woman, Solitary Man, Beautiful Noise, I’m a Believer, Crunchy Granola Suite & I Am I Said.

Well Neil Diamond music is still as popular today as it was when it was first released, so popular in fact there is not enough of Neil to go around.  Multi award winning Australian Entertainer Steve Cummins is the only tribute artist in the world to have featured on the same program as the man himself.

It was live to air on the UK’s BBC radio program Beautiful Noise (The Neil Diamond Story), to over 3 million listeners, Steve Cummins has been described by the president of the Neil Diamond fan club in Australia as the only performer to have mastered the feel of Neil Diamond Music and performs a brilliant tribute to the man and the songs that embraced the world.

The Neil Diamond Super Hits Show has toured extensively, playing to packed houses throughout Australasia for the past eighteen years. Performances for the King of Java, pre match entertainment for the World Super 12’s Rugby in Dunedin N.Z , head lining the Gladstone Harbor Festival and numerous performances at the Melbourne Zoo twilight concerts are just a few of the notable credits this show has earned.  Don’t miss Steve Cummins presenting, The Neil Diamond Super Hits Show.
